Haaretz Report
Three weeks into the war, Iran continued to target Israel with cluster munitions that lightly wounded several people across the country and inflicted damage – including in Jerusalem’s Old City, just a short distance from the Western Wall and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The escalation in missile fire came a day after PM Netanyahu said that a “ground component” would be required to create the conditions for regime change in Iran – without offering any details on what such a ground offensive might look like.
Meanwhile, Israel continued to strike Iran’s leadership. Iranian state TV confirmed that the spokesperson of the Revolutionary Guard Corps was killed, while the IDF also said it took out an intelligence official in Tehran earlier in the week.
After the string of assassinations, Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, called on the country’s intelligence services to strip “enemies at home and abroad” of their security in a written statement on Friday.
An Iranian military spokesperson also threatened Israeli and U.S. officials and military staff, telling state media that they won’t be safe in “resorts and tourist centers around the world.”
