A man is expected to be charged after a car crashed into a house in Queensland.

The sedan smashed through the wall of the home in Idalia, southern Townsville, about 9.30pm on Sunday.

Footage from the scene shows the sedan surrounded by debris after crashing into the home’s living room and kitchen.

A couple inside the home, aged in their 60s, miraculously avoided being injured in the incident.

The supposed driver, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Townsville University Hospital for treatment.

7NEWS understands that police will allege the man was driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

Charges are yet to be laid.
