In a tragic start to the weekend, two people have been killed in separate car crashes in WA’s Wheatbelt.

A man died after his car left the road and slammed into a tree just south of Gingin late on Friday night.

The crash happened about 11.25pm in Bambun when a black 2011 Ford Falcon travelling south on Brand Hwy veered off the carriageway.

On Saturday, a 22-year-old man died and another was left seriously injured after a ute slammed into a tree, also near Gingin.

A white Holden Colorado was travelling south on Bindoon–Moora Rd in Mindarra about 5.05pm on Saturday when it left the road and crashed.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene but the young passenger could not be saved.

The 25-year-old driver was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

Major Crash officers are investigating both crashes and are calling for witnesses to come forward.
