He’s won Olympic and Commonwealth Games gold — among plenty of other titles — but Adam Peaty won’t technically be anywhere near the pool in Glasgow 2026.

Instead, Adam Ramsay-Peaty will take centre stage after showing off his new name at training on Thursday.

The 31-year-old made the change after marrying into Gordon Ramsay’s family at a time his relationship with his own parents had broken down.

Ramsay-Peaty married Gordon’s daughter Holly between Christmas and New Year’s Eve last year.

Holly was walked down the aisle by Gordon with plenty of Ramsay family members and friends — including David and Victoria Beckham — in attendance.

Ramsay-Peaty’s sister Beth was said to be the only member of his family in attendance but there has also since been a fallout in that relationship.

His rumoured feud with his mother Caroline escalated the month before the wedding when she was not invited to Holly’s hen’s party, which was attended by Victoria Beckham.

The Peaty family leaned on British tabloids to air their grievances while the swimmer moved to London to be closer to the Ramsay family.

And Ramsay-Peaty has moved on to start his new life with Holly in the spotlight. Holly is pregnant with their first child, a girl due in December.

Before that milestone Ramsay-Peaty will hope to win Commonwealth Games gold under his new name, which was splashed across his swimming cap for the first time at a training session in Glasgow on Thursday.

Australian legend and Channel 7 commentator Ariarne Titmus was in attendance and enjoyed a poolside chat with Ramsay-Peaty.

Ramsay-Peaty claimed almost every 100m breaststroke title under sun between 2014 and 2022 but stepped away in 2023.

He returned for the 2024 Olympics and battled illness to win silver, before being diagnosed with COVID a day later.

In Glasgow he will battle Australia’s Sam Williamson in the 50m and 100m while Zac Stubblety-Cook, targeting more 200m glory, will double up in the 100m alongside debutant Bailey Lello.

But the Englishman said he won’t be defined by whether he wins another gold — only whether he gave everything in the pool.

“Pressure can be given to anyone, but it’s probably best in my hands because the more pressure I’m under, the better I perform,” Ramsay-Peaty said.

“At the same time, you need a strategy for managing the noise and we probably haven’t done that as well as we could, but I’ll make sure the swimming does the talking.

“We can’t control every variable in life, but I can stand behind the blocks and not really care about what people’s opinions are.

“Being at peace with a 100m or 50m breaststroke race is a beautiful place to be. Nothing else matters in that moment. That’s the beauty of sport. If you can find that state of mind, it’s an incredible place to be.

“That’s the Adam people should see — the racer. Everything else is my private life.”

Ramsay-Peaty, who has one child from a previous relationship, said he is hoping to be a mentor to the younger swimmers on England’s team.

“Not everyone is going to race how they want to. Some will swim out of their skin and others will have a few shockers. That’s just sport,” he said.

“Being a father has enabled me not just to sympathise because I’ve been through it, but to empathise if someone’s experience is different.

“The love and kindness I can show now is very different to the person I was from 2014 onwards.”
