A runaway truck has carved a path of destruction through a Sunshine Coast street, wiping out nine cars and a caravan in a matter of seconds.
The truck rolled backwards down a hill at Alexandra Headland, carrying a load of Besser blocks that came tumbling down with it.
Nearby residents reported hearing the driver screaming that he’d lost control of the vehicle’s brakes as it careered down the street, spilling its load.

Resident Sue Brough said she and her family have lived on the street for 12 years and had never seen anything like it.
“This has been one of the most significant incidents on our street,” she said.
“Nobody hurt which is amazing.”
At least nine trucks were damaged by the runaway truck. Credit: 7NEWSBrough said she and her husband were having coffee upstairs in their home when they heard the truck come up the street.
“I thought I heard the truck unloading and thought ‘gee that’s loud’, before the whole house shook.”
They ran out to the balcony and saw the truck had “taken out” both of their cars and their caravan.
“There was carnage everywhere,” she said.
“We ran downstairs to make sure no one was injured.”
The truck ended up caught half way between two roads and over a retaining wall. Credit: 7NEWSTow truck driver Alex Drabs told 7NEWS he suspected something had gone wrong with the truck’s brakes.
“He’s come down the hill and collected about eight or nine cars on the way down, come up over the barrier here and ended up in a rather awkward spot in between the two streets,” he said.
“Thankfully all the cars that were hit in the street were just parked cars, no one was inside any of them.”
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with only minor injuries.
“He was a bit shaken up, obviously, but for the scale of destruction and having no injuries; you can’t really ask for more than that,” Drabs said.
