A 50-year-old mother has blamed a brush turkey and a health drink after crashing her luxury car, despite allegedly blowing more than six times the legal limit.

Natasha Jansen had to be pulled from her flipped Mercedes in August last year, but she still denies she was drunk behind the wheel.

The 50-year-old fronted Hornsby Court on Monday after crashing her Mercedes-Benz at Northbridge in Sydney’s north last August, just around the corner from her house.

She revealed she was on the way back from getting cake supplies for baking for her kids’ school fair.

Jansen claimed a brush turkey ran across the road, causing her to smash into parked utes and flip her car.

“I instinctively hit the brakes,” she said. “The last thing I remember is a very loud, explosive whooshing sound.”

A roadside breath test allegedly recorded a reading of 0.304.

Jansen’s lawyer Michael Bowe argued this was not due to alcohol, despite a vodka bottle being found in Jansen’s handbag.

She says that was her husband’s, but her DNA was allegedly on it.

They say the reading was due to ethanol from two bottles of Grant’s liquid chlorophyll, a wellness drink Jansen was using to treat acne and menopause while also suffering reflux.

This is the second time she’s used this exact defence.

Only weeks before the crash, she was found not guilty of a separate drink-driving charge after falling asleep on the way to school pickup.

Jansen is back in court in October.
