Three young boys have miraculously escaped serious injury after being mowed down by a BMW that ploughed through a northern beaches chicken shop.

Exclusive vision obtained by 7NEWS shows the shocking moment the car accelerated full throttle into Wicked Chicken at Allambie Heights — on Sydney’s northern beaches — where the three 11-year-old boys had been enjoying hot chips on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred when the driver’s son left the passenger door open. As the man reached over to close it himself, his foot caught the accelerator, sending the vehicle careering into the shopfront.

The dramatic footage shows one boy going flying, another turned upside down and a third caught underneath the car.

Bystanders and the driver rushed to help, managing to free the child trapped beneath the vehicle. His friend was left panicked and in shock.

Paramedics transported one boy to Sydney Children’s Hospital with leg injuries. He was discharged on Sunday night.

The talented junior cricketer will be sidelined for a while as he recovers.

Wicked Chicken remained closed all Monday as the owner cleaned up after the crash.

Police say it’s unlikely any further action will be taken against the driver.
