Beyond the jaw-dropping sequences of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey are the stunt doubles making it all possible.

Among them are Devyn Dalton who, at just 137cm tall, has become an unlikely female double for star Matt Damon.

Her work in the epic film even earned praise from Damon himself, who singled out her “greatest arms I’ve ever seen” during promotional interviews.

Speaking to The Morning Show on Wednesday, Dalton opened up about the “incredible” experience of being one of Damon’s stunt doubles in the film spectacular.

“It’s been so much fun and I’m so honoured to be a part of it,” she said.

Dalton said she never expected her biceps to go viral or that she’d be doubling for one of Hollywood’s leading men.

It’s the first time Dalton has doubled for a male actor, a relatively rare occurrence in the stunt industry.

“It’s definitely rare for women to be doubling men,” Dalton explained.

“But it does happen because obviously stunts, it’s about the skillset. It’s about your resume.”

Her height proved advantageous for scenes involving giants, allowing filmmakers to use movie magic to create the desired effect without the use of CGI.

Dalton’s journey to Hollywood began as a dancer in live theatre before landing roles in the Planet Of The Apes trilogy, in which she performed motion-capture work playing ape characters.

“Through that, I met the stunt community and I started training with the stunt people,” she said.

“I guess you could say I just fell into the stunt world.”

With 60 credits to her name, Dalton is now advocating for greater recognition of stunt performers in the industry.

“It takes years and years and years of dedication and training,” she said.

“Any day I’m not on set working, I’m training and you’re always having to gain new skills.”

She encourages cinema-goers to stay and watch the credits roll after films to see the hundreds of people who contribute to making movies.

“Without them, you know, the movie can’t be made,” Dalton said.

“I’m just so excited to celebrate what we do.”

The Odyssey has already sailed past $900 million at the global box office after just two weekends.
