Explosive criminal sexual conduct allegations have been made against Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto with four women accusing the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman of committing the offences against them when they were just teenagers.

The BBC reports one alleged victim claiming that she was 17 when the Suicide Squad star sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom while another alleged that she was 19 when he made sexual assault threats against her.

Another reportedly said she was 17 when she had sex with him in California, where the age of consent is 18. That would effectively constitute an offence of “statutory rape”.

Another woman alleges that she was just 16 when the Blade Runner 2049 star used his celebrity appeal to groom her and make graphic sexual phone calls to her, including at one stage his suggestion that they should have intercourse.

The fourth woman interviewed by the BBC produced a non-disclosure agreement sent to her by Leto’s camp which she refused to sign.

The BBC reported in its documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret that four more women accused Leto of inappropriate conduct against them even earlier, including one who says she was just 14 when he made comments about her chest and attempted to get a security guard to smuggle her backstage at a music festival.

There are 10 women in the documentary, with nine of them detailing sexually inappropriate interactions between 2002 and 2016 with now 54-year-old Leto, who won an Oscar for his supporting role in Dallas Buyers Club.

One victim claims: “This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it.”

Documentary makers corroborated a number of the women’s accounts with their friends and family who were told at the time, and also saw pictures and messages that backed up some of the stories.

Two men who worked with Thirty Seconds to Mars for years alleged staff often felt uncomfortable about the way the Kings and Queens singer interacted with teenage girls, including allegedly inviting them to his dressing room or where he was recording.

One said: “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big.”

One woman who was 19 at the time she was lured into a hotel room with him in Europe detailed how she instead told him she was 17, thinking the legal age barrier would deter the actor.

Instead she said the then-41-year-old told her: “Age is just a number, and anyway, we’re in Europe.”

When she said she was tired and asked to sleep on the room’s chaise lounge, he warned that if she did so she would wake up with his penis inside her - a comment which she later construed as a threat of sexual assault.

Claims of sexual impropriety have long swirled around Leto, particularly when he was in his 30s and 40s, which is when the BBC documentary’s allegations are made. The British broadcaster amassed over 120 individual accusations regarding his conduct towards women being made against him online and on social media.

The documentary-makers claim that Leto has failed to respond to repeated attempts to contact him for comment on the allegations.
